WHO AM I 

Most people think I am this body or perhaps the brain.
I disagree with this view however and I am going to demonstrate why by comparing my body with a car .

Do you drive a really old car? I used to have an old FORD --The "Fix Or Repair Daily!"…."Found On the Road Dead"..... and it was...several times!

Practically speaking I built a new Ford car after replacing all the parts over five years. It was a completely different car to the one I started with.
Similarly, by the process of metabolism replacing the cells (or parts of the body), I've got a new body that I didn't have five years ago. Unfortunately that doesn't alter the ageing process. My Ford was old and valueless but that didn't make me old or valueless. Now my body is old but I don't feel old or valueless.

Now to use the analogy of comparing the body with a car.
  • I replaced the engine.
  • Doctors transplant hearts
  • I replace the steel ball joints
  • Doctors fit new titanium hips & knees
  • I repaint the car.
  • By metabolism the body grows a new skin in about a month.
  • I replace the fuel filter
  • The body replaces the liver in six weeks
  • I replace the GPS computer in the car.
  • The body replaces the brain in my head.
  • Surprising huh!! You may have thought the nerve & brain cells didn't regenerate.
Let me quote Paul Weiss:

"Recent Studies on the turnover of the molecular population within a given nerve cell have indicated that their macro-molecular contingent is renewed about ten thousand times in a lifetime"

In other words the matter making up the brain cells changes completely every three days.
I exist now and in three days I'll still be the same person. It's obvious that I'm not the brain but I'm simply using the brain. If I was the brain I would be a different person every three days.

So If I'm not the brain I must be some other part of the body, right?

Wrong, sorry;

Let me quote Dr Paul Aebersold of the Oak Ridge Atomic Reseach Center
  • And my late friend, Donald Hatch Andrews, Professor of Chemistry at Johns Hopkins University, who seems to have given the matter long consideration, put it at about five years, after which one can presumably consider one's physical body completely new, down to the very last atom. 

Who Am I, if I'm not this body?

I'm the living force using this body now and five years ago I existed using a totally different
body.

I am not dependent on this material body for my existence rather this material body is dependent on me for it's existence and as soon as I the self, leave this body it dies.

YMSA - Yoga Meditation Studio Palm Beach - Raw Brownie Recipe / Perfect With Organic Decaf Chai

 


Scrumptious Raw Brownie Treat

Yum healthy snack for Yoga Meditation Fans
 
Ingredients

 For the brownie layer:
1/2 cup raw almonds
1/2 cup raw walnuts
3/4 cup pitted honey or medjool dates
1/4 cup raw cacao powder / carob
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
pinch of salt

For the top layer:
1/2 cup coconut butter
1/4 cup raw agave nectar
2 tbsp raw cacao powder / carob
2 tbsp shredded coconut, for garnish

Method

For the brownie layer:
In a food processor, grind the almonds and walnuts to a meal, being careful not to over process or the nuts will become oily.
Add the dates and pulse until the mixture is combined and crumbly.
Add the cacao or carob powder, vanilla extract and sea salt and pulse to combine. The mixture should stick together when pressed between two fingers.
Press the brownie mixture into the bottom of a 9 x 5-inch loaf pan (or small square pan) and set aside.

For the top layer:

In a food processor, process the coconut butter and agave nectar until smooth.
Add the cacao or carob powder and pulse to combine.
Spoon the mixture onto the brownie base and smooth out with the back of a spoon. Sprinkle with shredded coconut.
Cover the pan with tin foil and place in the freezer for about 30 minutes until set. Cut into squares and serve, or store in the freezer for up to one month.
